The Centre has been established at an approved cost of Rs. 70.72 crores under the plan scheme of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare by upgrading the Sports Injury Unit functioning at the Central Institute of Orthopaedics at Safdarjung Hospital.
The hospital was designed for comprehensive Surgical, Rehabilitative and Diagnostic services under one roof ,for specialized treatment of Sports and related Joint disorders. The benefits would not be limited only to the Sports persons but will also be extended to general patients sustaining similar and related Joint Injuries.
